How do BlissLights work?
BlissLights are laser lights that project thousands of colorful stars. Laser light is unique because it's coherent (concentrated light waves traveling in the same direction). Laser light travels in a beam and shines over long distances without losing brightness. We split (diffract) that beam into thousands of smaller beams to create the unique "starry" BlissLights effect.
Are BlissLights safe?
Yes, BlissLights are safe to use around people and pets. The lasers we use are low-wattage, and as mentioned above, we split the main beam into thousands of smaller beams which are less than 5 miliWatts each. We are also registered with the CDRH (Center for Devices and Radiological Health) and take great precautions to ensure user safety.
What is our most popular product?
Currently, our most popular product is the Sky Lite, which can be viewed here. It projects a galaxy of moving stars and a blue nebula!
How much area does a single BlissLight cover?
BlissLights coverage varies depending on how close the light is to the projection surface. The closer the light is, the denser/smaller the star cluster will appear. As you increase the distance between the projector and the surface, the effect will expand. In general, BlissLights cover roughly 30 x 30 feet from 10 feet away.

Are BlissLights safe to point to the sky?
While BlissLights are safe for everyday use, they are still lasers and will keep on projecting in any direction you aim the product at. Please note that any BlissLights product, if being used outside, should not be projected any higher than 45 degrees so the laser does not interfere with air traffic.
Are BlissLights available in white?
White lasers don't exist at this time, though we are researching the possibility. For now, we carry blue, green and red laser colors. Most likely, you'll hear exclamations of "Wow!" or "How did you do that?" ...not "Why isn't it white?"
Why don't you just use white LEDs?
Because LEDs emit incoherent light (instead of coherent light like lasers), they don't have the intensity and focus required to create a crisp star field. LEDs create an unfocused, blobby effect instead that's hard to see from more than a few feet away.
Why are some laser colors not as bright looking as others?
Each color has different wavelength intensity in the visible light spectrum. The human eye sees colors near the center of the spectrum (orange/yellow/green) as the brightest. That's why green or blue laser colors appear brighter than red, which is closer to the edge of the spectrum.
What are outdoor laser lights?
These decorative lights add charm to gardens, front yards, the outside of your home, outside businesses, and any other outdoor locations you’d like. Outdoor laser lights are made to stay outside, with both waterproofing and dust-tight ratings that keep the elements out and your lights running safely year-round.
What are outdoor laser lights used for?
When it comes to outdoor laser lights, your imagination is the only limit. Here are some of the ways BlissLights customers use our outdoor laser lights:

What are the different types of outdoor laser lights?
There’s no shortage of features among outdoor laser lights. Be on the lookout for some of these cool variations:

  • Multi-color. At BlissLights, our multi-laser lights can display multiple colors at once, so you can combine your reds, blues, and greens however you see fit. We also give you the power to shine a host of color effects as well.
  • Timed. Never again manually turn your lights on or off as nighttime comes and goes. Our lights include built-in timers you can set and forget – outdoor lighting has never been this easy!
  • Waterproof. Setting it and forgetting it wouldn’t be safe if our lights weren’t waterproof – what about those rainy, snowy nights? That’s why our lights are entirely waterproof. The binary resin we use in our plastic stands up to rain, sleet, and snow.
  • Weather-rated. We add to our waterproof resins with metal housings that keep our lights operating at extremely low or high temperatures. Enjoy your winter wonderland without worrying about frost – BlissLights has you (and your lights) covered.
  • Heated. Our TRIO light takes weatherproofing a step further. We’ve built a heater into the face of the TRIO light so that it never ices over. You’ll bring warmth to your lighting and your laser light itself.
  • Multi-speed. Go from a subtle twinkle to an energetic flash in just moments!
  • Shimmer laser. A shimmer light can project thousands of stationary laser beams that fade in and out of focus. Although the lasers and lights never move, the consistent fading can create the illusion of motion.
  • Remote-controlled. Change your lighting effects from wherever you’re standing. With just a click or two, you’ll get exactly the light show you seek. Plus, adjusting the built-in timer settings with the remote is a breeze as well.
What precautions should I take when using outdoor laser lights?
You should keep the following in mind when using outdoor laser lights

  • Weather and waterproof ratings. With outdoor use comes varying temperatures and weather conditions. Look at the ingress protection (IP) rating of any outdoor laser lights you buy to determine their resistance to moisture and dirt. Some models, like Blisslights’ Trio, even has a built-in heater to keep the light from icing over!
  • Safety first. Laser lights are bright. While BlissLights are rated Class III and will not cause damage if people or pets accidentally shine the light in their eyes, nobody of any age should stare directly into the aperture for prolonged periods of time. Make sure the lights are set up so that they don't consistently shine into anyone's line of sight.
  • Laser power. Use lights that fall into either Class II or Class III under U.S. government regulations. Light from Class III products such as outdoor laser lights by BlissLights does not exceed 5 mW in power, and products rated in either class will not cause permanent eye damage.
  • Careful setup. Make sure your lights point toward a solid object like the walls of your house, and ensure they’re not reflecting off a surface back upward. Never point them toward the sky, where they could interfere with airplanes.
How are laser lights different from LED lights?
LED lights emit incoherent light, which means that their light waves spread over many directions. That’s why LEDs often create a blobby "cheese-puff" effect that's hard to see from more than a few feet away – and certainly not the most inspiring dream lighting setup.

Laser beams emit coherent light, which means that all waves emanating from the beam travel in the same direction. To get the one-of-a-kind “starry” effect from BlissLights outdoor lighting, we diffract one laser beam into literally thousands of smaller ones. With BlissLights, your lights won’t lose any brightness or power – literally and figuratively – as they project gorgeous, enchanting patterns wherever you want them.
